Welcome everyone to our very first Car Connection news letter for 2008!!! The old has passed and the new has arrived. Here is an opportunity to start anew and put your best foot forward and best effort into accomplishing those things that were not completed in 2007. To you and yours a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year from all of us at Car Connection!
For all those who have realized the feature benefits of looking after your motor vehicle we give “kudos” to you for doing the right thing! At the same time we would like to encourage everyone to take good care of your motor vehicle and your health in 2008.
I have observed over the years that a majority of people love the results that come with hard work and effort but on the other hand are not in love with the effort part that is required to accomplish those positive results! Our wish for you in 2008 is that you become fulfilled by all the successes that you are willing to work for.
Car Connection is in your corner for 2008 to continue to encourage you and help you through this “thing called life” anyway we possibly can, after all were all spinning on the same”rock.” Life is a little easier when we help one another!
A warm welcome to all of our “Newbies” from our senior executive club members! It has been brought to my attention by the exec club members that the majority of the club would like to see spring arrive early this year!
Sooooo they have come up with a plan to fool “mother nature” are you ready for this one folks! Here is the plan, all club “newbies” will be dressed in their very own “Robin” suit and equipped with the ability to call out to our fine red breasted feathered friend. Their thought is that if they can trick the Robins to come back home early that spring would follow, yeah right! Anyhow the “newbies will have to entertain this one to please the senior exec’s! Enjoy!
My personal suggestion to the “newbies” wear a helmet I’m thinking when Mr & Mrs Robin figure out that they have been “fooled” they are going to become very aggressive bringing a whole new meaning to the words “hen pecked” I’m just the messenger folks “Motormouth” ……..out.
Enough of the madness folks we have business to take care of when it comes down to looking after your vehicle properly. I would like to take a moment to “jog” your memory a little on a couple of annual vehicle maintenance items. Take this as being a friendly reminder to have the following performed to your vehicle:
1) Have your vehicle protected against “RUST” every year! Rust proofing your vehicle will save you money in the long run preventing needless repairs caused by corrosion .
2) It is a very good practice to have your vehicles transmission serviced once a year. The cost to have your transmission serviced once per year is a “drop in a bucket “compared to the costs involved in having to have a transmission repaired or rebuilt on one of today’s high tech vehicles.
3) Brake system servicing should be performed a minimum of once a year. All wheels should be removed for a thorough inspection of all moving components including the condition of the braking materials themselves. I like to suggest having brakes visually inspected every 4 months! Most wait until they hear noises in their brakes before having any type of an inspection performed. Make the time to have your vehicles brakes inspected and serviced not only will your vehicle stop better, your brakes will last longer saving you $$$$$.
4) Brake fluid is required by most manufacturers to be replaced every 12 to 24 months. Brake fluid when clean is pretty much clear in appearance, when the fluid becomes contaminated from all the heat it has been subjected to it turns dark almost looking like “dirty motoroil” ( black). Dirty brake fluid causes internal corrosion in the hydraulic systems of your braking system in turn creating the potential for some very expensive braking system repairs. Having the system flushed is cheap compared to the cost of an ABS hydraulic control unit.
5) Tires should be re- balanced once per year and through out should be rotated aprox every 10,000 kms or 16,000 miles. Have your tire pressures checked monthly and adjusted according to the information given on the sidewall of the tire.
6) A front wheel or 4 wheel alignment should be performed to your vehicle every year. A complete front end inspection of all steering and suspension components should be completed at the same time, along with any worn components being replaced prior to having an alignment performed.
7) Wiper blades should be replaced once per year or when you find that the wiper blades themselves are not able to clear the windshield completely leaving large streaky areas in your line of vision.
Spring generally sparks a lot of interest in motorists looking to replace their “ride” I thought that I would give up a few tech tips that could help you to get more cash for your “old ride”
1) Gather up all of your service records and have them prepared to show the potential buyer that you have been taking good care of your motor vehicle. A well mechanically maintained vehicle hold more value than a vehicle that needs a lot of attention to make it road worthy!
2) If you have been a bit of a “car slob” inside and out, now is the time to invest in having the vehicle properly detailed. A clean vehicle displays pride of ownership translating into more “buckola’s” in the resale price!
3) Before setting the asking price have your vehicle inspected by a technician to see if there are any area’s of concern that will be required to be repaired for the vehicle to meet safety standards.
Watch for next month’s news letter addition for more vehicle resale tech tips! Thank you for your continued support for all of our recommended businesses and the co sponsors of our radio program Car Connection. We encourage you to direct questions to those businesses that are represented on our Car Connection Business Network web site! They too are there to help you!
Until next time Happy Motoring my friends, keep it under 100 and put that coffee on were well on our way! Your friends “Motormouth” “Mamamotormouth” & Axel out……………
